February - Molten Laval Cake

The first tea we chose for the Kochanie box was our delicious lava cake inspired rooibos. We knew we wanted to choose a “saucy” (literally) and sweet chocolate dessert tea and we found the perfect one! Enter, “Molten Lava Cake”. This tea is a Rooibos tea base with chocolate, caramel and rosebuds.

For those of you unfamiliar with Rooibos tea – this is a type of herbal infusion derived from the South African red bush. It’s associated with many health benefits and it’s supposed to be super hydrating as it contains electrolytes. One of our favorite things about this tea is that it’s totally caffeine free, so you can truly use it as an after-dinner dessert without having to worry about being up all night! Sweet deal.

We find this tea goes particularly well with milk and a bit of honey, but the beauty about drinking tea instead of eating a dessert, is that you can customize the level of sweetness and creaminess to your liking. This tea can also make a super delicious iced latte! Check the recipe out here:

  • Steep 4 Tsp of Molten Lava Cake in 6oz hot water for 5 minutes
  • Remove the tea filter and add any sweeteners you like (we recommend vanilla syrup)
  • Pour the steeped tea over a large glass full of ice
  • Top the mixture up with 1/3c of your choice of milk
  • Enjoy!
